Experience the power of live symphonic music at the Outdoor Summer Concert: Michigan Philharmonic at Ford House on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 7 p.m. on the lakeside Terrace at the Main Residence.
The theme is Let’s Go to the Movies. The award-winning Michigan Philharmonic will perform a full evening program of beloved film scores, from classic Hollywood to contemporary blockbusters.
The first half opens with a Salute to MGM’s That’s Entertainment, arranged by Ian Polster, followed by selections from Frozen, Evergreen from the 1976 film A Star Is Born, and The Lion King Selections by Elton John and Hans Zimmer. Soprano Audrey Kline joins the orchestra as featured vocalist.
After intermission, the orchestra turns to Highlights from Rocky by Bill Conti, the Forrest Gump Suite by Alan Silvestri, and My Heart Will Go On from Titanic, again featuring Audrey Kline. The evening closes with The Witches of Eastwick: Devil’s Dance by John Williams and Movie Spectacular, arranged by Jay Bocook, with music from Batman, Dances with Wolves, and The Prince of Thieves.

Guests will enjoy a full evening of music under the summer sky, with concessions on-site, including hot food, snacks, beer, wine, soft drinks, and water. Parking is located across Lake Shore Road in the grass lot, with a walk of approximately 15 to 25 minutes to reach the concert area on the Terrace. Limited shuttles are available for guests with ADA placards or mobility challenges.

Before You Book

- ✓All guests park in the Lake Shore grass lot across from the Main Entrance. The lot opens at 5 p.m.
- ✓The walk from the parking lot to the concert area takes 15 to 25 minutes. Please plan your arrival time accordingly.
- ✓Shuttles are available exclusively for guests with an ADA placard displayed in their vehicle. All other guests are asked to walk.
- ✓Police crossing guards and Ford House staff will help you cross Lake Shore Road safely.
Know Before You Go
Arrival & Parking
- Please allow extra time for parking, walking, check-in, and getting settled so you don't miss the beginning of the performance.
- A limited number of dedicated accessible parking spaces are available for guests with ADA placards on a first-come, first-served basis.
- If you have dinner reservations at The Continental before the concert, you may enter through the North Gate.
Check-in & Tickets
- Have your tickets ready for scanning at the check-in area when you arrive.
- Concerts are approximately two hours in length.
- All bags, wagons, and similar items are subject to search.
Getting to the Concert
- The concert takes place behind the Main Residence on the lakeside Terrace.
- Shuttles are exclusively for guests with ADA placards and/or mobility challenges. To allow room for as many passengers in need as possible, carts, wagons, and large items cannot be accommodated on the shuttles.
- Please bring only what you can comfortably carry. Hand-pulled wagons and carts are welcome for the walk from the parking lot.
Seating & Comfort
- Lawn seating is general admission. Guests are welcome to bring their own chairs or blankets.
- A limited number of Seated Tickets with provided chairs are available for booking.
- Portable restrooms will be available near the concert area.
- We recommend bringing bug spray, sunscreen, and other comfort items to enjoy the evening outdoors.
Food & Beverages
- Concessions open at 5 p.m. and include hot food, snacks, soft drinks, beer, and wine.
- Outside alcohol is not permitted under our license.
- Coolers, large umbrellas, and tents are not permitted.
During the Concert
- Dogs are not allowed on the grounds during the summer concerts.
- Children must remain with an adult at all times. For safety, children may not climb trees or play on the water's edge berm.
- Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on the Ford House grounds.
After the Concert
- At the end of the event, please follow the lighted path back to the parking lot so everyone can exit safely.
- Guests not in compliance with Ford House policies may be asked to leave the event.
Weather
- Concerts take place rain or shine. Please dress for the weather and bring gear as needed.
Assistance
- If you need help during the event, please see a Ford House staff member at the concessions tent or ask a security officer.
- If you lose a personal item, please check at the concessions tent or at the admissions desk inside the Visitor Center.
