Ford Family Story

On your visit to Ford House, take time to visit The Ford Family Story inside the Visitor Center.

Located in the Visitor Center

The permanent exhibition introduces visitors to Edsel and Eleanor Ford, their family, and their beautiful estate.

Learn how they built a home for their family with an homage to the property’s natural environment, the arts, and interior design.

See never-before-seen home movie clips that show the unguarded, intimate side of the warm and loving couple. Archival footage from their honeymoon, from beach excursions, tennis matches, impromptu dance parties, and snowball fights, give a rare glimpse into the private lives of this lively and affectionate family.

An interactive scrapbook of family photos from the Fords’ scrapbooks, news clippings, and personal letters offers a glimpse of the family’s life on the estate and their personal narratives.

A digital drafting table gets you into the creative process used by the Ford family and their architects and designers. You can curate a personal mood board and design a home, interior room, or landscape of your own.
