Bronze Sculpture of Eleanor and Edsel
Between the Main Residence and the water, Eleanor and Edsel Ford are standing arm in arm. They have been there since 2016.
The life-sized bronze sculpture was unveiled that year as part of Ford House’s “A Century of Love” celebration, marking the 100th anniversary of Eleanor and Edsel wedding. The figures depict the couple as they appeared around 1939–1940, in the pose and clothing of the life they built here together.
StudioEIS, a Brooklyn-based studio known for figurative bronze work at historic sites and public institutions, designed the sculpture. To achieve an accurate likeness, the studio worked from family photographs, portraits, and period clothing. The figures were cast at Bollinger Atelier foundry in Arizona. The result is built to scale: visitors often stop measuring themselves against Eleanor and Edsel Ford before taking a photograph.
Edsel B. Ford II, the couple’s grandson and chairman of the Ford House board of trustees at the time of the unveiling, called it “an extraordinary supplement to the estate.”Ford House rarely adds new permanent features to the grounds, and this one was designed to belong there.
The sculpture is accessible with any Ford House admission ticket and is visible from the grounds year-round.
Take a tour and see the estate for yourself.
