Eleanor and Edsel Ford’s courtship began on the dance floor at a class like this one, and now it’s your turn to step into the rhythm. Join us at Ford House for a ballroom dance class where you’ll learn the American Smooth Tango, a style known for its drama, contrast, and theatrical flair.
American Smooth Tango combines clear intention with fluid, sweeping motion. The balance between control and momentum gives the dance its distinctive character and creates an engaging experience for dancers of all levels.
Sign up on your own or with a friend or partner, no experience required. All skill levels are welcome. Put on your dancing shoes, embrace the drama, and let the music move you.
Classes take place on Wednesdays, March 25, April 1, April 8, and April 15, and the price includes all classes for one person.

Louis Johnson leads the Momentum Ballroom Dance Team, a nationally ranked Pro/Am Dancesport club based in Detroit. Beyond the ballroom, he brings a dynamic range of experience as a DJ, basketball analyst, and much more! A practitioner of mindfulness and QiGong, Louis encourages dancers to slow down, stay present, and fully experience the movement and music.
