Introduction to Coptic Stitch Bookbinding
Led by Elaisha Hilliard, attendees will learn the fundamentals of Coptic stitch bookbinding in this hands-on introductory workshop. Participants will be guided through the process of creating their own hardcover book using this traditional binding technique.
You’ll learn how to prepare and fold paper signatures, sew the pages together, and construct and attach hardcover boards to create a finished book. We’ll cover the basic tools, materials, and techniques used throughout the process.
No prior bookbinding experience is required. This workshop is designed for beginners and offers an approachable introduction to the craft of handmade bookbinding.
By the end of the workshop, each participant will leave with a completed hardcover book and the foundational skills to continue exploring the craft on their own.
