About this event:

Discover the secrets of rose gardening with expert Rosarian Monica Sabella! Join us for a two-hour experience where Monica will guide you through the essentials of rose care. She’ll demonstrate proper pruning techniques, share the rich history and variety of roses, and walk you through seasonal tasks and routine sprays. Along the way, you’ll learn how to overcome common challenges, the must-have tools of the trade, and the problem-solving techniques she’s honed during her time at Ford House. Be sure to bring your questions—there will be a Q&A session to wrap things up!

Monica Sabella, Rosarian and horticulturist, has tended to Ford House’s beloved rose gardens since 2022. With eight years of experience across commercial, private, and municipal gardens, Monica’s expertise extends beyond roses to the creative design and installation of seasonal gardens and planters that grace the estate throughout the year. She’s also known for crafting custom signs and floral arrangements for Ford House events. Describing the Ford estate as a “living nature museum,” she says, “My work helps preserve a historical landscape design from the 1920s. It’s a unique role, and every day brings a new challenge.”
