For the second summer, Edsel & Eleanor Ford House is taking visitors on a fantastical journey - this year with a Grimmly focus. Celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Brothers Grimm’s first published story collection, Children’s and Household Tales, this summer promises to be an adventure of magic spells, witches, wolves, princesses and heroes as we explore some of the world’s most famous tales.
At the centerpiece of the celebration is Once Upon a Time: Grimmly Inspired, an exhibit featuring original works of art created by local professional artists and emerging student artists. Their fantastical interpretation of select Grimm stories will be displayed in an area transformed into multi-sensory spaces: an enchanted forest, a candy house and outside the castle walls. You will literally walk into the story!
Once Upon a Time: Grimmly Inspired and the Fairy Tale Festival are made possible in part by Michigan Humanities Council.
Saturdays! – young visitors are invited to express their fantastical creativity by making a craft to take home on Saturdays throughout the run of the exhibit.
Admittance to Once Upon at Time: Grimmly Inspired is included with regular admission and is free to members.
